Renewables in Africa: market insights and how to source bankable projects?


According to Axial, investments firms spend between USD 450,000 and USD 1 million a year to source deal with various degrees of success. Similarly, the Renewables in Africa (RiA) study found that funders and developers will disburse around USD 190,000 every 6 months to secure projects. With a limited amount of strong deals in emerging markets and especially Africa, It is not surprising to identify firms that spend all this amount for a mere project.

The process is clearly inefficient and can be substantially improved. Smart companies are changing their approach. What about you?

Our Expert

The course will be delivered by Tony Tiyou, founder of RiA.

Tony is an award-winning, Renewable Energy expert with over 10 years’ experience in the sector. He has written the ONLY book on the Wind Industry in Africa. Tony has released the first solar tracker, which captures utility-size solar projects across the whole continent.

Tony is a member of the Energy Managers’ Association and Advisory Board member of Ooni of Ife Global Outreach (OIGO), advising on Renewable Energy and Social and Youth inclusion. In addition, Tony is also a Technical expert for the BBC and he is an international public speaker, participating in many conferences.
